 ASA 101 Basic Keelboat Sailing

 

A comprehensive 3-day program that combines classroom and on-the-water instructions. With our experienced instructors and top-notch facilities, you’ll learn the fundamental principles of sailing on our 25'ODay sailboat. Our course covers everything you need to know from Sailboat Familiarization, Sailing Terminology, Rigging and Sails to Points of Sail, Sail Trim, Tacking and Jibing, Rules of the Road, Safety at Sea, Docking and Mooring, and Sailing Knots.

ASA 103 Basic Coastal Cruising

 

 

This course is designed to build on your ASA 101 skills. In just 3 days, you will learn the techniques needed to become a confident coastal sailor and be able to take on the role of skipper or crew on our 33' Hunter. Areas of Instruction include: Rules of the Road; Safety Equipment; Gasoline Outboard and Diesel Inboard Engine Operation and Troubleshooting; Marine Weather; Reefing System; How to Recover from Running Aground; Introductory Navigation and Charts; Emergency Procedures and Hypothermia; and more Knots.

ASA 104
Bareboat Cruising 

The Bareboat Chartering Class gives the Coastal Cruiser the skills to sail a 30 to 51 foot auxiliary sailboat on a Bareboat Charter.
This 3-day course includes classroom and extensive on-the water instruction including one night on board at anchor.
Areas of Instruction Include: Cruising Boat Handling and Seamanship; Boat Systems Including Electrical, Engine, Fuel, Water and Head; Fuel Planning, Trip Planning, Provisioning and Meal Preparation; Maintenance Procedures; Coastal Navigation including Bearings, Fixes, and Time-Speed-Distance Calculations, Mooring and Anchoring; Problem Solving and Trouble Shooting.
*Course length includes: 3 days and 2 nights' accommodations, 1 night at dock and 1 night cruising
*Meals include three breakfasts, two lunches and one dinner.
*Meals and drinks ashore will be at your own expense.

Cruising Catamaran Course
 

*Able to skipper an auxiliary-powered sailing cruising catamaran of approximately 30 to 45 feet in length during a multi-day liveaboard cruise upon inland or coastal waters in moderate to heavy winds (up to 30 knots) and sea conditions.
*Knowledge of catamaran structure, components and features, performance under sail and power, boat systems, seamanship and safety, heavy weather operation, and emergency response.
*Prerequisites:  ASA 101, Basic Keelboat Sailing - ASA 103, Basic Coastal Cruising - ASA 104, Bareboat Cruising, and the ability to demonstrate competencies in all knowledge skills elements of those Standards

*For ASA 101, 103, 104, 114, price includes ASA sailing manual and ASA written exam and certification.

Military Discounts

*A 50% deposit is required to register for each course.
Upon receipt of deposit, we will send you your ASA package.
*Cancellation Policy: If something comes up and you cannot attend your class, we will make every effort to reschedule your class to a later date, at no additional charge. If you cancel with 10 or fewer days notice, you will be charged for materials received plus 25% of the class tuition.
*We schedule all courses by appointment and operate weekdays as well as weekends. Call for availability!

*Stay on our Luxury 35' Gemini Legacy during class. *Students living onboard $125.00 per night 
*Renting entire boat $250.00 per night
